My old pan-shaped open cup (capacity 10.5fl.oz) thrown in my coarse terracotta clay with a hand-pulled smooth clay handle. Inside is slipped with a lighter clay showing “red-gold” beneath honey glaze. The rim margin is wiped for good glaze adhesion, revealing “lapidary” clay tempering. Outside is slipped with a traditional black iron/manganese slip onto which raw Peters Marland ball clay is trailed in a “one-off/live” single pass! The outside also bears honey glaze which renders trail lines yellow & the black slip can yield subtle but beautiful silver sparkles in a certain light! (see photo..).
